After loading up on carbs on Thanksgiving we decided to make an escape up to Los Padres in Big Sur to burn off our meal by sleeping on the ground. Our good friend Kerri put the bug in our ear and picked out a couple awesome spots were we could meet up.
We left Friday afternoon and after a couple of detours got to our site at Nacimiento Campground a little after sunset.
When we got to the campground all the sites were booked up...but we lucked out because it seemed like someone had abandoned their site. So we stuck around and evoked the camping version of squatters rights and claimed it for us.
For dinner we ate...leftovers reheated over the fire.
The next morning we woke up to a beautiful chilly fall day and cooked breakfast- soyrizo, beans and egg burritos.
I can't remember the last time I saw such nice foliage.
Later we booked it on down the coast and hung out at Sand Dollar Beach. I was kicking myself for not bringing a board, the waves looked really good.
That afternoon Kerri met up with us and we made a great dinner and chatted over the fire. We woke up early the next day and did a little trail riding on the forest roads along the ridge.
Kerri is a vertean moto rider and she runs her own tour company called Motobird Adventures. She leads motorcycle tours for women all along the coast so it was really great to get to ride around with her.
All in all a great weekend getting to camp and catch up our Kerri whom we missed very much! We'll definitely be back to this part of Los Padres!
